This was the one of the first albums i ever bought when i started earning my own money over 16 years ago. Clair Marlo’s album Let It Go comes with a subtle simplicity and freshness during an age of new opportunities, an age where you come and discover who you want to be for the rest of your life. That i was, for all intents and purposes, a sensitive and caring young woman.
Marlo’s version of the Stevie Wonder original I Believe (When I Fall In Love It Will Be Forever) is actually not a bad cover and can perhaps best that of Art Garfunkel‘s due to its orchestration. The carrier title track Let It Go carries a message of female empowerment and having to let go of restrictions to who we really are. And now as i listen to the album again, i now understand that it is possible to love one great love of a lifetime. That you can love a person til they take your heart away.
